What the port is today
The old port at the mouth of the Yarkon stopped working as a harbour decades ago and was rebuilt as one of the city's main public spaces: a wooden deck along the water, restaurants and shops under the old hangars, a long promenade for walking and cycling, and a beach that runs north from the estuary.
It is a place for a few hours rather than a sight: brunch on the deck, a walk along the water at sunset, a run or a bike ride. On summer weekends it is busy, and on Shabbat it is one of the busiest public spaces in the city.
Getting there without a taxi
The port is walkable from north Tel Aviv and from the city centre along the seafront promenade — roughly 30 to 40 minutes on foot from the centre, less by bicycle, and the cycle path goes straight there. Bus routes serve the streets behind the port. Parking exists but fills quickly at the weekend.

Where the car stops
Vehicle access is only through the complex entrances on Sha’ar Zion Street and Tel Aviv Port Street — the boardwalks themselves are for walking. Worth knowing: the port has no bathing beach, so a swim is not the reason to come here.
