Taxi between Tel Aviv and Ashdod
Ashdod is two places at once: a working port with a cruise terminal on one side, and a city with a marina and long beaches on the other. The train station is on neither — it sits on the eastern edge, so whatever you came for, there is a drive at the end of it.

Two different Ashdods
People say Ashdod and mean one of two things. The port — the country's largest, with the cruise terminal and the container berths — sits on the northern side. The city, the marina and the beaches are further south and west. Ad Halom, the station the train uses, is out on the eastern edge, which means neither of them is a short walk from a platform. Knowing which Ashdod you are going to is most of the job, and it is the first thing we ask.
Cruise days and the port
When a ship is in, the day has a hard shape: you clear the terminal, you have a few hours, and you have to be back at the gangway before it sails. That is not a day for a bus timetable. Give us the ship's name and the time you expect to be through, and we will be at the gate. If you are going on to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv and returning the same day, we agree the return time when we drop you. The port is also a workplace, and crew changes and contractor runs happen at hours the train does not cover.
Beaches, marina and the city
The other Ashdod is a resort. The marina, Lido Beach and the Eye of the Sea are strung along the western shore, with the city and its market behind them. None of it is near the station, and the beach car parks fill up on a Saturday. A car drops you at the entrance you want and collects you where you agreed, which on a hot day is worth more than it sounds.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Ashdod from Tel Aviv?
About 40 km south, usually 35 to 45 minutes by road. The train runs it too, but Ad Halom station is on the eastern edge of the city — not at the beach, not at the marina and not at the port.
Can you collect cruise passengers at Ashdod port?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. Give us the ship\'s name and the time you expect to be through the terminal, and we will be at the gate. If you are going on to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv and coming back the same day, we agree the return time when we drop you.
Do you go to the marina and the beaches?
Yes. The marina, Lido Beach and the Eye of the Sea are all on the western shore, well away from the station. Tell us which one and we will drop you at the entrance.
