Private transfer or shared shuttle?
Two different ways to reach the Dead Sea, with different prices and different experiences.
A private transfer is your car, leaving Tel Aviv at a time you choose, stopping where you want (Masada on the way, Ein Gedi, the Ein Bokek hotels) and driving straight to the hotel door. It pays for two or more people, for a family, or for anyone landing at Ben Gurion with suitcases.
A shared shuttle carries other passengers, leaves from a fixed gate at fixed times, and can be cheaper for a solo traveller. We do not run one — better that you know that now than after booking.
This page covers the private transfer. For a day trip that includes waiting at the Dead Sea, see the taxi day-trip page.
Where you are dropped off
| Destination | Drive from Tel Aviv | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ein Bokek (southern hotel strip) | about 2 hours | Each hotel has its own entrance — send the name |
| Dead Sea hotels (Leonardo, Hod, Herods, Isrotel) | about 2 hours | The exact position changes the drop-off point |
| Masada — lower car park or cable car | about 1h 50 | Climb in the early morning hours |
| Ein Gedi and the Ein Gedi reserve | about 2h 15 | A different route, along Route 90 |
| Ein Gedi junction / Kalya | about 2 hours | Stopover point for onward travel |
Hotel names change between seasons; if yours is not listed, send the full name and we will confirm the drop-off.
Planning the transfer
- Time: leaving Tel Aviv early (05:00–07:00) reaches the Dead Sea before the worst heat and before the Masada opening hours close in. An afternoon departure arrives at sunset — beautiful, but close to the trail cut-off.
- Passengers and luggage: the passenger count picks the vehicle; the suitcase count picks it more. Four people with four large cases do not fit a four-seat car.
- Return: for a same-day return, agree the pickup time in advance (usually 15:00–17:00). Staying overnight? Book the return transfer separately.
- Shabbat: transfers run on Shabbat and back on Shabbat, which is why many of our bookings for this route are Saturday bookings while buses and trains do not run.
What the transfer costs
The fare is agreed before travel, based on the passengers, the vehicle, the pickup and drop-off, and any stops. A short stop at Masada is not treated as long waiting; two hours or more is an extra. Full price list

Dead Sea transfer questions
How long is the drive from Tel Aviv to the Dead Sea?
About two hours by private car, depending on traffic leaving Tel Aviv and any stops on the way.
Can we stop at Masada on the way?
Yes. A short stop at the lower car park or the cable car is agreed in advance. A long hike up Masada is arranged as waiting time.
Is there a shared shuttle?
No. All our transfers are private. If you were looking for a shared shuttle, we do not operate one.
Can you take a group of 10?
Yes, in a minibus. Send the passenger and luggage counts and we will confirm the vehicle.
Can I land at Ben Gurion and continue straight to the Dead Sea?
Yes, and it is a common route: collection at the terminal against the flight number, then a direct drive to the Dead Sea.
Can we return the same day?
Yes. The return pickup time is agreed in advance, usually between 15:00 and 17:00.
