Museums and attractions in Tel Aviv — and how to reach them

Tel Aviv's museum map is spread across the city and beyond it: the Museum of Art in the centre, the Eretz Israel Museum and ANU in the north, and the Design Museum across the municipal line in Holon. Each one has its own opening day, its own entrance and its own parking problem — this guide is about the practical half of the visit.

  • Four museums, four locations
  • Entrances, not just addresses

The four that visitors plan around

Tel Aviv Museum of Art

The main art museum sits on Shaul HaMelech Boulevard, next to the performing arts complex and the courts area — a cluster of buildings where the museum entrance is not the first door you meet. For an evening event or a timed exhibition entry, being dropped at the right door matters.

Eretz Israel Museum

In Ramat Aviv, the museum is a campus of separate pavilions rather than one building, with archaeology, glass, coins and a planetarium among them. The campus layout means the visit involves walking between buildings, and the entrance is the one to fix for the return pickup.

ANU — the Museum of the Jewish People

On the same Ramat Aviv campus area, ANU is the museum dedicated to Jewish communities worldwide. It is built around a visit of a few hours, so a return pickup at a fixed time works better than calling when you finish.

Design Museum Holon

Technically in Holon, twenty minutes from central Tel Aviv, and worth the trip for the building alone — the ribbon of weathered steel that wraps the museum. Its hours and its exhibition calendar differ from the Tel Aviv museums, so it is the one to check before you plan a day around it.

Practical: entrances, groups and the way back

Three details cover most museum trips. First, the entrance: a campus with several gates is not an address, and the difference between the main gate and the group entrance can be ten minutes of walking. Second, the return: a fixed pickup time is better than a call at the end, especially for a group coming out together.

Third, the vehicle. School groups, family groups and guided tours arrive in numbers, and one larger vehicle is usually simpler than three cars: large taxi and minibus. If the museum is a stop on the way to the airport, say so — the luggage changes the plan. Ben Gurion arrivals pickup · Holon guide · Price list

Museum trip questions
