What Or Yehuda is, and what it is good for

Or Yehuda is residential and local: low buildings, neighbourhood streets, a small commercial centre and an industrial zone on its edge. Visitors rarely come for a landmark; they come to see family, to reach an office or a workshop, or to sleep close to the airport before an early flight.

Why it matters for a flight

The airport is a ten to fifteen minute drive in normal conditions, which changes the arithmetic of an early departure: you can leave at a civilised hour instead of at three in the morning. The same applies in reverse to a landing after midnight — the ride home is short enough that waiting for public transport is not worth it.

The airport is several destinations

Terminal 3, terminal 1, the pick-up areas and the long-stay car parks are different points with different access. Say which one you need; "the airport" is not precise enough for a driver at 05:00.

Getting to Tel Aviv, and the local detail

Or Yehuda has bus connections to Tel Aviv and to the surrounding towns, and the road network puts the Ayalon corridor and the airport within easy reach. In the middle of the day public transport works; with luggage, at night, or on Shabbat, it does not, and that is where a car is the simpler answer.
